Dr. Matthew DeFelice is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (Board certified in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery). He is also a Diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and a Fellow of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology (Board certified in Dental Anesthesiology).
Dr. DeFelice grew up in Colorado Springs, CO from a large military family. After graduating high school he traveled east to Manhattan, KS where Dr. DeFelice attended Kansas State University for his undergraduate education receiving his Bachelor of Science in Nutrition in 1991. After graduation Dr. DeFelice attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1995. He then went on to attend Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio for a 1 year internship in trauma. Finally, Dr. DeFelice traveled to Boston to complete his General Surgery and Oral & Maxillofacial Residency training at the prestigious Boston University Medical Center graduating in 2000.
After graduation, Dr. DeFelice moved to the Phoenix area where he has been practicing full scope Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery ever since. He was part of the Facial Trauma Team at Honor Health (dental implant formerly Scottsdale Healthcare) for over 12 years. For the past 7 years, Dr. DeFelice has served as a surgical consultant for the nation’s largest provider of dental implant reconstructions. Collectively, Dr. DeFelice has performed over 5000 dental implant procedures and over 3000 full arch dental reconstructions.
Dr. DeFelice has a special interest in oral reconstructions, bone grafting and dental implant surgery to restore function and esthetics for patients. He also enjoys dentoalveolar surgery, wisdom teeth removal and head and neck pathology. He is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardia Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Life Support (PALS).
Dr. DeFelice is a member of several professional organizations including the American Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons, The American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, Arizona Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Tennessee Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He regularly attends seminars, national meetings and conferences for continuing education in his specialty and medicine.

Dr. DeFelice has been happily married for 30 years and has two wonderful children that have recently graduated from college. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and doing anything athletic that includes hiking, mountain biking and working out. He is an avid road cycler and competes in events when time allows. Dr. DeFelice enjoys all sports but especially enjoys watching his favorite Colorado Sports teams.
